* Not Chinese made etc - drivers and cabinetry hand made in Denmark (VIFA drivers) * can be placed up against the walls or in corners * 90dB 6 ohms - can be driven with 5 watt amplifiers * Better integrated without the sibilence in the upper midrange lower treble * Better - deeper bass response with more dynamics The AX Two is $850 too which makes it all the more appealing. The AX Two sounds better than ALL Rogers variants including the Harbeth and Falcon IMO. One question, are you against buying used speakers? I would think it would be pretty easy to play around with several different used monitors on your list as they can be shipped 'relatively' safely.Īnyway I would try and find a pair of Audio Note AX two speakers - yes I am a broken record on this butĪudio Note Hired Andy Whittle away (well sort of as he actually works for both companies at the same time) from Rogers to make the AX Two. That being said, both times were in a bigger room than I would expect monitors to shine in. When I heard them they seemed to come alive with power and sounded better on the louder side. I have listened to the SCM11s & the SCM19s and I am not sure they would work in a near field situation. If I were in your situation I would seriously give them a listen. I was surprised that it did not sound like I was sitting too close to two speakers. It was like being at an acoustic concert and moving to the front row. He was like, "no closer" and went and got a rolling desk chair and had me move up to like 4-5 feet from the speakers which were about 6' apart and a 1' out from the wall. ![]() They were in a smaller, well-damped room, and the sales guy told me I should try sitting closer, so I scooted forward on the couch. I really liked the sound and, strangely enough, one of the selling points was how close one could sit to the speakers. I had the pleasure of spending a Sunday afternoon in front of a pair of Tablettes at a nice Phoenix Stereo joint.
